After the squad of 40 players was named on Tuesday, talk quickly swung to those who had been left out.

But on Thursday the talk will centre around the players who will earn their first call up to the All-Australian squad.
On a jam-packed Thursday night, the AFL are set to reel off a host of big time awards with the All-Australian squad being the jewel in the crown.
The night will also see the announcement of the Rising Star, the AFL Players Association MVP award and the AFL Coaches Association best player award.

The All-Australian squad will be rolled out throughout the night as other awards are named sporadically.

The back six has already thrown up a bit of chaos on social media with fans stumped certain defenders didn’t earn a spot in the starting side.
Many believed Carlton’s Jacob Weitering was a shoe-in to land a spot in the starting back six while Collingwood’s Brayden Maynard and the Bulldogs’ Caleb Daniel’s were expected to be named.
